8 Natural Ways to Achieve Some Weight Loss Without Starving

8 Natural Ways to Achieve Some Weight Loss Without Starving

Achieving a healthy weight loss is hardly coincidental. It can only result from a deliberate, calculated effort to embrace healthy routines, while letting go of those risky lifestyles and habits that predispose you to excessive weight gain and obesity. Furthermore, when you eat in excess, the extra calories are stored as fat under your skin and around major organs. The moment you begin to expend more energy (calories) than what you consume, these fat stores are mobilized and depleted to provide energy thereby bringing about weight loss.
The potential benefits of maintaining a healthy weight cannot be overemphasised. To the same extent, the dangers of obesity are enormous, ranging from increased risk of cardiovascular problems to a higher incidence of some cancers recorded among obese patients.
Highlighted below are some of the proven natural ways you can burn some fat without having to starve yourself:
Exercise regularly
If you are really serious on losing some weight, then quit sitting at a desk or in front of the television all day. Get on your feet and walk! The Centre for Disease Control discovered that spending 10 minutes a day to walk up and down stairs can help you shed up to 10 pounds in a year. More still, a study that was done at Duke University showed that consistently embarking on more than 30 minutes of walk or exercise on a daily basis will help you to burn some fat and lose considerable weight.
Consume more Fruits and Vegetables
Numerous studies have shown fruits and vegetables to be highly beneficial for those planning to lose some weight. Basically, this can be explained by the high-fibre, low-calorie content of these fruits and vegetables. The high fibre content gives you a feeling of fullness and satiety and makes you less likely to snack on those junks that could blow up your weight. For instance, a research done at Johns Hopkins Hospital on a number of women revealed an amazing weight loss of 20 pounds after a period of 13 weeks of consuming grape fruits. In the same vein, a recent study at Texas Women's University discovered that blueberries help to lower cholesterol levels by fighting fat cells. Are you serious on shedding some extra weight? Then consider adding more fresh fruits and vegetables to your diet.
Consider Coconut Oil
Coconut oil has medium-chain triglycerides that burn energy efficiently. According to the Journal of Nutrition, coconut oil aids weight loss when used instead of long-chain triglycerides. Furthermore, in 2010, it was published in the International Journal of Food Sciences and Nutrition that coconut oil helps to reduce appetite and enhance metabolism thereby promoting a healthy weight loss.
Ginseng
Ginseng is a perennial herbal plant that has fleshy roots. Belonging to the genus Panax, ginseng speeds up metabolism, helping to burn some fat. It's also excellent at relieving stress and fatigue. Stress raises the levels of cortisol, a body hormone that encourages formation and deposition of fat causing unhealthy weight gain.
Green Tea
Studies have shown three major components in green tea that facilitate weight loss - catechins, caffeine and theanine. Caffeine speeds up metabolic processes to burn some fat. Also, catechins are antioxidant flavonoids that have been shown to interfere with lipid absorption from the intestine.
Ensure Adequate Sleep
Sleep deprivation for a period as short as four nights can lead to insulin resistance - a condition in which body tissues become less sensitive to the catabolic (breakdown) actions of insulin. Insulin promotes uptake of glucose into body cells where it is metabolised. However, when insulin sensitivity is impaired, more glucose is available in the blood for conversion into fats.
Take Plain, Low-fat Yoghurt
Plain yoghurt contains probiotics that help to maintain a healthy balance in the normal flora of the gut which positively influences digestion and absorption of food substances (including fat)
Drink more water and cut down on salt intake
When you drink water throughout the day, it helps to keep you full so that you are less likely to consume those snacks and high-calorie drinks that add to your weight. In addition, cutting down on your dietary intake of salt especially while drinking more water will help you lose water weight very quickly.

8 Natural Ways to Achieve Some Weight Loss Without Starving

Lose Weight, Feel Great, Never Worry About Diabetes Again

Lose Weight, Feel Great, Never Worry About Diabetes Again

Weight loss isn't a major need for most overweight people. What's needed more than losing weight is to get the minerals back into the body so the body has the ability to keep itself balanced. When the body is balanced it will maintain a healthy natural weight without any effort.
There are only a few reasons for being overweight. The first I'll mention is nervousness. When the body is calcium deficient, nerves become on edge. To help quell the nervousness, a person eats too much and snacks even more. You might call this condition overfed and undernourished. The food choices for snacking in a nervous condition aren't generally the healthiest choices.
The next cause of overweight I'll mention here is still the result of a mineral deficiency. When the liver, pancreas and Thyroid aren't working together in sync and there isn't enough mineral available, the body will either get too fat or too thin. The body has to properly create and transfer the proper chemicals in the body, like glucagon and thyroxin in order to create a product I like to call "Grandma's Old Fashioned Soap". Thyroxin has to be combined with Potassium to create this fat emulsifying wonder of the body. So if you force weight loss through starvation, it's not going to last because you haven't solved the problem that caused overweight to begin with. And you're going to be destroying muscle tissue as you are trying to lose weight.
The final cause of overweight I'll mention here is toxicity. When your body is faced with a load of toxins from food or environment, maybe even emotional toxins, it has to "Do" something with those toxins. If you don't have enough supplies in your body, like phosphates and water, to neutralize the toxins and safely throw them out, then your body will do the next safest thing and wrap those toxins in fat cells until such a time as it can safely neutralize them and throw them out.
When I got poisoned by the glyphosate or Roundup, it was a life threatening event. My body quickly threw all the toxins it couldn't handle into fat cells and I gained 30 pounds in 5 months. It just may have saved my life to gain that extra weight.
Now, what to do to lose that extra weight? Easy right, get the minerals back in and detox the toxins. Haha. While that is the obvious answer, how do you go about detoxifying and remineralizing? To give your body a boost in its energy levels and to allow it the best odds of balancing itself out, there's a tool called a refractometer.
This tool measures the sugars that are being thrown off in the urine. So for weight loss I suggest using a refractometer and paying attention to your urine sugars. When you keep the reading between 1.2 and 2.0 on the refractometer, your body will then have the proper amount of energy to begin the process of balance and remineralization. And as you add more water to your routine, your body would then have the water it needs to throw out the toxins.
This is a great beginning to total health with the added benefit of knowing you don't have to worry about diabetes or hypoglycemia. If you keep your total urine sugars between 1 and 2, you can't get diabetes or hypoglycemia because your total sugars are in a natural balance with your body.

Belly Fat - What It Is and Why You Should Get Rid of It

Belly Fat - What It Is and Why You Should Get Rid of It

If you want to lose belly fat, you should think of reasons for getting rid of your excess abdominal fat. One reason is that the bulge in the middle of your body makes you look ugly. But the more important reason is that the excess fat sitting around your belly is not only ugly but also harmful to your health. Some people want to lose belly fat fast for improving their looks. They do something desperate that too in a hurry. They may even see some success. But such success will be short-lived, with the fat returning to its favorite place on their body soon enough.
Therefore, if you are more concerned about your health than about your looks, then you should focus on losing belly fat, not on getting some fast results. Many studies have shown that a majority of men and women in the developed countries like the US, Western European countries, Australia etc. are overweight, though many of them may not consider themselves to be obese. And even those who are concerned about their obesity have their concerns based on the wrong reasons, by worrying about their appearance but not about the impact of their belly fat on their health!
To understand how harmful your belly fat can be, you should know that there are two types of abdominal fat - subcutaneous and visceral. Subcutaneous fat accumulates just above your abdominal muscles and below your skin. Visceral fat takes its place much deeper, under your muscle, adjoining your organs. It is this fat that makes your belly protrude. Unlike the subcutaneous fat which is soft to touch, the visceral fat will be hard
While both types of fat pose health risks, visceral fat carries more serious health risks. Since visceral fat releases more inflammatory molecules into your body on a regular basis, it can cause serious health problems like heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, inflammation, stroke, sleep apnea, various forms of cancer, and other degenerative diseases.
A diet rich in Carbohydrates is the most common cause for visceral fat to accumulate in your body. Excess carbohydrate consumption will often lead to insulin resistance over time resulting in increase in blood sugar levels and other problems.
The only way to reduce your abdominal fat is to reduce the consumption of grain based foods and switch over to a food comprising more of vegetables and fruits that are rich fiber content. You also have to do exercise on a regular basis if you are serious about getting rid of your abdominal fat.

5 Weight Loss Tips For Women Who Live Busy Lives

We live in a culture of fast-fixes and fast foods designed for people on the go, but most of these options do not promote healthy weight loss. These 5 handy weight loss tips for women are for those of you who lead busy lives and find it frustrating trying to find time to even think about losing unwanted pounds.

1. Planning.
One of the most important weight loss tips for women (and men) who lead busy lives is to plan your meals. If nothing is prepared, you can easily get into the bad habit of grabbing a high calorie takeaway meal on the way home. These impulsive decisions really impact badly on your weight loss plans. Make yourself a meal plan and stick to it.
2. Make Time For You.
You probably always find time for that last minute meeting or appointment with a possible client, but, most likely, you don't give enough time for yourself. One of the top tips for weight loss is making sure you schedule regular exercise into your diary. Make an appointment with yourself and do not cancel it.
3. Have Healthy Foods To Hand.
How often have you not eaten breakfast because you were in a rush? Eating breakfast is important because it helps prevent hunger and keep you from snacking during the day. One way to overcome the problem of a missed breakfast at home and is to keep some healthy food options at work. There are many nutritious breakfast choices that you can keep in your desk or fridge at work.
4. Cook In Advance.
Sometimes it can can feel like it's more effort than it's worth to come home after a hard day at work and make a healthy meal. But if you take the time at the weekend to do large batches of cooking, the meals for you and your family can be ready for you. The freezer can be your biggest resource because you can freeze meals to have readily available all week.
5. A Few Too Many Drinks?
Most nutrition advice for weight loss will tell you to give up alcohol altogether. But a lot of people enjoy a glass of wine with their dinner, so don't want to avoid alcohol completely. Rather than having two or three glasses of wine, just have one, and steer clear of the sugary high calorie mixed drinks. By having one glass of wine, you'll save yourself a lot of calories and still being able to enjoy a drink with your meal.

6 Diet Steps To Recover After Easter Holiday

6 Diet Steps To Recover After Easter Holiday

"Oh my gosh! I've eaten way too much, I think I've gained like 5 pounds this weekend!" Does this sounds like you? Did you overindulge on your mothers favorite recipe's, baked goods and chocolate?
Don't sweat it! I've got your back! Just follow these 6 simple recovery steps and you'll be back on track!
Step 1. Drink lemon water
This is a great first step especially if you've been boozing it up! Adding lemon to your diet is easy simple and very effective for returning your body back to it's healthy state. Lemon has many benefits to your health like detoxing, digestion, burning fat, relieving constipation, alkalizing the body and providing an abundance of antioxidants.
Slice a couple of wedges and add it to your drinking water. Drink 2 liters a day.
Step 2. For The Next 3 Days Only Cut Out Carbs
Carbs are great! You need the healthy complex carbs to provide you with energy and to spare the protein's job. The problem is you ate way too many and you ate the wrong kind. (Processed carbs) To get back on track just follow this simple trick I use with my clients. Cut the carbs out for 3 consecutive days and then return to normal eating afterwards. This means no bread, pasta, potatoes, rice or any other starchy carbohydrate for 3 consecutive days.
Step 3. Eat Healthy Foods
I shouldn't have to say this but many folk make the careless assumption that the food choices they have are better than they actually are. Many experts believe that people who are very particular about diet and nutrition have larger tendencies of thinking and believing that their food choices are healthier than they really are. It is always advisable to eat whole, fresh, and unprocessed foods whenever possible to stay health and fit. In addition to your "3 Days No Carbs" be sure that the rest of your meal is healthy!
Step 4. Eat 5 Meals
Even though you're cutting back on carbs to recover from your binge fest it doesn't really work if you have 1-2 meals a day. In order to recover and have adequate nutrients in your body you need to consume 5 meals comprised of Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner and two snacks.
Don't think you're eating too much when you're actually not. Doctors say that one of the most common mistakes people make is that they overestimate and underestimate the amount of food their body needs. People are advised to monitor the portion sizes of your food to ensure that they are getting the key nutrients that their body needs.
Step 5. Don't Have Two Stomachs
Someone once said this to me; a statement I will never forget. They said, "do you know I have two stomachs" I replied, "what do you mean?" They went on to explain that they have one stomach to eat their intended meal, ie. dinner and then another stomach for desert and alcohol. They further explained that even though they were completely full from dinner in a matter of seconds they can switch to their second stomach for ice cream and beer. I replied, "what nonsense and that's why you're fat."
You must know when to eat and when not to eat. Experts believe that overeating and under eating may put an individual's health at risk because it disrupts blood sugar and insulin levels. Knowing when to eat and when not can ensure that the person will get the nutrition the body type needs. Always make sure that you eat something every three hours or so and don't starve before eating the next meal.
Step 6. Exercise
If you really want to recover then you must exercise and although this is not a diet step it couldn't be left out! You should never neglect the importance of regular exercise. There is no denying the wonderful benefits that regular exercise can do for people especially to those who want to achieve optimum health and fitness. To ensure that you stay healthy despite being on a diet, make exercise a regular part of your life can definitely contribute to your overall wellness.
There you have it! Follow these simple steps and you'll be back to your pre-Easter weight in no time. Who knows, these very steps may cause you to turn over a new leaf!

6 Diet Steps To Recover After Easter Holiday

The Main Reasons Why Diets Don't Work

The Main Reasons Why Diets Don't Work

Have you tried every single diet plan in the book and failed? Maybe you never stuck with it, or maybe you did lose weight, but then you gained it all back (plus more). When it comes to diets, the odds are stacked against us. So what's the answer? Certainly the answer is not to give up altogether.
Today I am going to share the top reasons diets fail, and some tips to find a diet plan that will work for you.
The mindset around dieting is perhaps the number one reason most diets fail. For most people, the word 'diet' implies that it's a plan you're going to go on for a set amount of time, and then be done with once you've lost the weight. Instead of thinking of a 'diet' as something that you go on, think about having a diet. Simply put, your diet is the way you eat consistently for the long term. And, your diet will change at different stages of life.
Along with the mindset of short-term diets, many people go into an eating plan with drudgery. They plan a 'last supper' event the night before the diet is going to start because they know their freedom to enjoy food will end once the diet starts. When improving your diet, pick a plan that includes food that you enjoy. Food is for fuel, and for pleasure. If you are worried about not being able to eat as much as you have in the past, be grateful. The food you eat and enjoy will give you energy, not weigh you down and make you feel bloated and overfull.
Many diet plans also fail because of the extreme restrictions it places on eating 'eat this, don't eat that!' Some plans emphasize 'fake foods', with the goal of being able to consume as much food as you can instead of the intent of nourishing your body. Think fat-free and chemical-sweetened alternatives. Many diet plans also make you reliant on shakes, bars and pre-packaged meals, making it difficult to eat in the real world.
Finally, most diet plans fail because they only emphasize the 'what to eat', and forget about the 'why to eat' and 'how to eat'. In my opinion, the 'what to eat' is relatively simple. The 'why and how' is much more complex. If everyone ate only when they were hungry, and stopped when they were physically satiated, most people would easily maintain a healthy body weight.
So which plan should you choose? Ultimately, there's no 'one size fits all' approach. It's okay to experiment with a plan, and see how it works for you. Do you like the food? Is the food healthful and nourishing? Is the plan, or a slight modification of it, something you can see yourself doing for the long term? Do you have a support system in place to help you with the why and the how to eat?
